Local Church gets saved

Greetings readers,
Recently finished a service call for a local church that lost the motherboard in their computer.  I worked with the pastor and he ordered the board off of E-Bay.  When it arrived, my work began.  Replacing the motherboard was the easy part, the hard part was getting rid of the virus that caused the problem to begin with.  I first tried to reinstall Windows XP to get the missing files but that didn't work.  So I installed Windows next to the old installation.  Now I was able to go in and replace the missing files with files in the new installation.  Of course now I had two working Operating Systems.  I then made sure all the information was still viable in the old Windows and deleted the new install.  Tada... only one OS.  Next came the virus removal and what an ugly one it was.  Any time I tried to install or search for an online virus program, the virus would kill the install or close the browser.  Solution, create a new profile and install the virus program that way.  Long story short, I got that sucker and beat it into submission... lol  I left the extra profile on the computer but I made it hidden so I can access it in the future.  The pastor and the treasurer were very pleased.

It seems the radio ads are working

Greetings Visitors,
It seems theradio adsare working after all.  Had a call last Thursday from a gentleman who heard the ad on the radio and needed some help.  So I went by on Friday and took a look.  The gentleman had an older HP computer, and when I say old I meanOLD,Windows 98 SE and 64MB RAM.  He uses it forbook keepingat his business and nothing else.  Anyway, the computer froze on him the other day and when he turned it off it would not come back on.

Radio ads are finished... not much business.

Well folks, the radio ads are finished here on the local radio station.  Unfortunately theydidn't bring in any business.  I guess I will go back to the signs and business cards being placed all over town.  I also need to get word of mouth advertising going.  This, as anyone with a business knows, is the best type of advertising one can have;friends tell friends who tell friends.  So if you have visited the site, please tell your friends.  Even if you don't have any computer problems, your friends might.

It's been a while...

Well, it's been about a week since my last post.  Not much to write about.  I'm still getting visitors to the website but no calls for work or questions posted to the site.  Maybe this heat is melting everybody's brain or maybe our melting economy is causing everyone to deal with what they have.  I know in my household we are starting to do away with things like cable tv, pizza delivery, and trips to Rapid City.  I know that we all have to tighten our belts and many are worried about what the Government is doing about it.

Lots of visitors, not much to show for it.

Greetings readers,
I see that there have been many visitors to my site here but not much has come from it yet.  If you are a regular visitor to the blog, please leave a comment.  If you have a question about computers or technology, please ask on the contact us page.  As you may have guessed by now, I am quite new to the blogging scene.  I am finding it difficult to write about the business when there is not much business going on, Computers by Jeff is still just a baby.  So anyway, what do you folks want to know?  Do you have any ideas for me to write about?  I guess I could just write about my day at my other job if you like, there is plenty of griping and complaining there to keep me busy.  Anyway, let me know.  Talk again soon.

Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July everybody.
This is my favorite summer holiday, perhaps because I am so into fireworks.  I really miss being a Cody Skylighter.  They are such a great group of men and women from Cody, Wyoming who work year round to bring the large fireworks display to Cody residents and visitors.  From September to April, these folk have meetings to discuss everything from how to raise money and how much to spend to how the last show went and what can be done to improve it.

Radio ads are on the about us page

Greetings folks,
I received the radio ads yesterday and posted them to the About Us page.  They sound great I think.  They should start airing tomorrow on the radio. Hopefully these ads will generate some more business.
Speaking of business, just received the hub for the hotel.  I've posted a picture on the Products page.  Will deliver it tomorrow.
I hope everyone has an enjoyable and safe 4th of July.  God bless America and keep our armed forces in your prayers.

First Post... Here we go!!!

Greetings and welcometo theComputers by Jeffblog.  Many years ago I came up with the dream that I wanted to work with computers as a career.  10 years ago I saw that dream become reality.  The next dream was to own my own computer business.  2011 low and behold, that dream has also become reality.  I started the business last month and with the help of my wonderful wife and family,Computers by Jeffwas born.  A little bit of local advertising, and I got my first customer.
